Pacific Mall Dehradun hosts 4th season for Face of Dehradun
The event celebrated the efforts of author, conservationist, activists, artists and other unsung heroes of city
Pacific Mall Dehradun hosted one of their unique initiatives – ‘Face of Dehradun’ to celebrate and honour the efforts of unsung heroes of the city. The event was organized in the mall and attended by Lokesh Ohri, Indian anthropologist, historian, writer and a cultural activist as Chief Guest & Sunil Mansingh as Special Guest. Sunil has a career spanning over three decades, in multi-faceted roles of an Educator, Radio Jockey, Script writer, Theatre professional, Journalist, Writer, Photographer and Resource Person cum Trainer.
The event honoured authors like Ganesh Saili, who has been researching and photographing Himalayas for the past 4 decades. Numerous periodicals, books and journals have been a testimony of love for his roots. His work has put the city on a map as a beautiful tourist destination. Upendra Arora, owner of Natraj Booksellers and Publishers has been supplying and publishing books on environment and conservation since 1923 through his family owned bookstore. Adding to the prestigious list of people, Dr. Renu D. Singh was also honoured at the event for her 40 years in dedication towards safeguarding victims of violence, rape and domestic abuse. She has been a women rights activist& the founder of Samadhan Dalit women Legal helpline. She is also credited with starting North India’s first ever Legal Mobile Clinic for women, by women and of women. Karan Nawani, a budding singer & Music Producer, DK Singh, Director, Dehradun Tea Company Limited were also felicitated at the event.
The mall has a massive Face of Dehradun wall installed in the premises and the efforts and pictures of these unsung heroes get showcased every year for the visitors. Elaborating more on the event, Mr. Abhishek Bansal, Executive Director, Pacific Group said, “We have been doing this campaign every year but last year the halt happened due to pandemic. Although, this year it was special as the mall presented the activists and community workers with a certificate and token of appreciation for their selfless dedication and hard work towards the city. Each effort does make a difference and it is all about the intention. We need more and more citizens with pure intentions for their city and surroundings only then we will make it a better place to live in. Face of Dehradun is our small contribution in appreciating and giving the right kind of recognition to the army of these sincere citizens.”
