Mumbai, 3rd October 2017: Registrations are now open for designers to participate in Lakmé Fashion Week’s Gen Next programme in association with INIFD. Regarded as the most coveted fashion platform, Lakmé Fashion Week’s Gen Next programme aims at nurturing the potential talent of aspiring designers and empowering them with right mentoring and grooming from leading industry experts.

Said “Inter National Institute of Fashion Design (INIFD) is extremely pleased to be associated with Lakmé Fashion Week for 18 seasons, to encourage and promote the upcoming Gen Next Designers - at INIFD presents Gen Next Show at Lakmé Fashion Week – which is the premium platform for all budding designers. Some of the criteria are that the designers must demonstrate innovation with materials and techniques, question and challenge conventional norms in Indian fashion and push the boundaries for creative experimentation using design techniques from fashion apparel, textile or other relevant creative disciplines such as art, film making, music, sculpture, etc.
Overall, a Gen Next applicant must showcase clarity in vision for the label through its aesthetic and design philosophy, concept of the proposed collection and execution through the samples submitted upon selection.

Now in its 25th edition, Lakmé Fashion Week Summer/Resort 2018 promises to bring to the fore, some of the country’s most talented design prodigies. The Gen Next programme has been the debuting stage for some leading names in fashion, such as Masaba Gupta, Nachiket Barve, Aneeth Arora, Kallol Datta, Rahul Mishra and Swapnil Shinde. The recently concluded Lakmé Fashion Week Winter/Festive 2017 too, witnessed the launch of designers like Sumiran Kabir Sharma– Anaam, Saaksha and Kinnari – Saaksha-Kinni, Shenali and Rinzin – Untitled Co., Deepak Pathak – Integument, and Akshat Bansal – Bloni.
Since its inception, over 200 young designers have received the opportunity to showcase their collections on India’s biggest runway. Through the Gen Next programme, these designers have also received the opportunity to be made accessible to local and international buyers.
