Actress Vidya Balan wearing Purvi Doshi for a TV show for Kahaani 2 promotions
Mumbai, November 2016: Vidya Balan was seen wearing an off white khadi embroidered dress from Purvi Doshi’s “Rhythms of Desert” collection for a TV show for her Kahaani movie promotions.
Purvi Doshi's line this season was of geometric patterns with floral highlights and vibrant colors that are inspired by the Gypsies of the desert that are an integral part of the folk arts of India. The garments had an eye-capturing spread of Oases-like brilliantly coloured Parsi embroideries incorporated in contemporary designs and silhouettes exclusively made in Khadi.
“Rhythms of Desert” has “Sustainability” at its root and “Make in India” in its soul, as it is made out of purely hand-woven India-made “Khadi” fabric. This collection was one more move towards popularizing these forgotten arts that help generate employment at the source that go a long way towards keeping it alive.
